February 2nd saw the inaugural Classic Lodges Barista Competition taking place at one of their top Yorkshire locations, Bagden Hall. 14 competitors took to the stage to take each other on in a challenge of 3 rounds. The competition was designed to test the skills developed during a good coffee service so baristas were challenged to calibrate the grinder, make a round of drinks and produce two identical latte art pours all with the clock ticking away. Points were awarded for speed, technical skills and the ability to produce tasty cups of coffee.
The competitors were judged by our barista trainers Hannah Davies and Stuart Hodgson who were joined by Barry Denson and Martin Reeves of Classic Lodges. The standard throughout the day was fantastic and the winner of 2016 will be announce at the Classic Lodges award dinner later in February!
