"Tasty fortune brews here - Yunnan coffee for a fresh start to the Chinese New Year"
Grumpy Mule

This one comes from Yunnan, China - a region that’s quietly making a name for itself in speciality coffee. It’s grown at Banka Farm, set up by Mr Hu, a bit of a local legend who’s been leading the way in the coffee game for nearly 20 years.

Mr Hu’s well respected round those parts - and not just for the coffee. He employs hundreds of local harvesters from across Yunnan’s many ethnic communities, and in 2018 the team stepped things up again, taking over the wet mill and installing one of the area’s first high-tech optical sorters to ensure top-notch quality.

All of that care means only the best cherries make the cut. This is a Natural process coffee, where the fruit dries on the bean under the sun on big open patios - a slow job that loads the flavour right in. Back at the roastery, we’ve roasted it to let that fruit sing. The result is a bold, complex cup that shows what happens when quality comes first, no shortcuts taken.
