A Cafetière also known as a French Press, Press Pot, Coffee Press or Coffee Plunger, is an all time classic and gives coffee excellent body.

You Need
(For 1 cup)
- 6 cup Cafetière
- Fresh coarse ground coffee (Demerara sugar consistency). 2 big heaped dessert spoonfuls (20g) per 300ml water
- Hot water (not boiling - 93-95°C)
- Spoon
- Timer
- Scale
- Mug
Guide
- Set your kettle to boil.
- Add your coffee to the Cafetière and place on a scale.
- Set your timer going and pour 300g of water onto the coffee in a circular motion. Make sure all the coffee grounds are covered.
- Place the plunger loosely on the top keep the heat in during the brew process (and you'll get a better brew).
- After 4 minutes, remove lid and scoop off the crust on top of the coffee.
- Place the plunger on top but don’t push all the way down. Pour your drink through the plunger, this leads to a smoother flavour.
- Enjoy.
Top tip: Use hot water to warm the press and cups if you're feeling fancy.
