Tolima, in the Andean region, Centre-West of Colombia. Think high altitudes, cool temps, plenty of sunshine and rain, all on rich volcanic soil. It’s a coffee lover’s dream..

“There are many ex-combatants trying to reintegrate into society...We encourage them to dedicate themselves to growing coffee... In this way, our association has been deeply involved in the peace process.” General manager Camilo Enciso, ASOEP

Story

La Planadas in Tolima has seen its fair share of turbulence, with violence making life tough for coffee producers. But thanks to folks like Camilo Enciso and ASOEP, the area is bouncing back. They’re getting the community involved in coffee, and this coffee has even helped fund a testing lab to boost quality. Better quality means more money in the farmers’ pockets. Simple as that.

Story

In La Labour, coffee isn’t just a job, it’s life. The whole community is working hard to improve the quality of their beans, which means better prices. But this coffee is extra special because it's also farmers to become beekeepers. More bees mean more biodiversity, more shade, more coffee and yep, more income.

Story

Café Femenino is a women-only cooperative where the women run the show, from growing to trading. They’ve gained independence, found their voices, and are pushing for equality in coffee farming worldwide. Through their coffee, they’ve brought education and health projects to their communities. Grumpy Mule spotted this courageous cause early on and was the first to bring Café Femenino coffee to the UK in 2010. We’re proud to say we buy more of their coffee than anyone else in Europe
